If you know me at all, you might suspect that I have been lying on my couch, systematically eating all the Butterfingers and Heath Bars left over from Halloween while watching Top Chef and Project Runway marathons for all these weeks that I have diligently avoided blogging. Â But you’d be wrong.
Okay, only partly wrong. I did eat all the Butterfingers and Heath Bars.
Alright, alright, I HAVE been watching Top Chef and Project Runway obsessively. Sheesh, y’all are a judgy group this morning! But just so you know, I watched all those shows while I was on the treadmill, so there! Back off!
It is truly amazing how y’all sound suspiciously like my guilty conscience.
Anyway, the point of this confessional post is to assure you that I have been running. Some. If you don’t believe me, you can read Debbie Horn’s post about our fun girls’ weekend at Javelina. I would have written my own report, but hers is good, and mine would probably be filled with a lot of pointless information about all the junk I ate and how many times I peed.
I hope everyone is rockin’ it out there!
Happy Running!

I love that y’all ran together and then decided to stop at the point where it wasn’t fun anymore.
I tried my first 50 earlier this fall and it was horrible (I need someone like you to run with and chat!) – I stopped at the turn because I was miserable and I decided the same thing – why do something that isn’t fun in any way?! (I felt like a loser for a bit, though!)

I don’t understand this post. Are we supposed to feel guilty about eating chocolate and watching reality tv. The whole point of running is to make the rest of our lives guilt-free and you run so much that I’m giving you permanent absolution from any guilt for the rest of your days. And that even includes murder.

Wait. You have leftover Heath bars? I’m coming right over.
I totally understand, Kim. I used to “force” myself to finish every race, but now I only “kill” myself if I really think it is worth it. Running, at this point in my life, is supposed to be fun, uplifting and challenging. It’s still cool that you tried the 50 miler!
I’ve missed you, Char! 🙂
Sorry, Marcia. Top Chef marathons require A LOT of Heath bars 🙂
I LOVE Heath bars!! I’ve managed to stay away from our leftover Halloween candy bc my husband hid it “from the kids” and I don’t know where it is. This isn’t all bad. I mean, if one of us has to eat all the candy and get fat, I pick him. Is that so wrong?
I totally understand you and Debbie stopping. I mean it’s not like you’ve never completed a 100 miler before! I also get the “why run if it’s not fun” as I thought that on a lot of long runs this summer in my preparation for my first marathon last month – yes I did complete it and it felt pretty awesome (despite my VERY slow time) at 59 to do something I always thought was impossible. So glad to have you back blogging again. Don’t stay away so long this time! 🙂
I stopped a week ago when it wasn’t fun anymore. No biggie, girl. We do it because we love it. We want to love it long time more. Glad to hear from you.

Glad to hear you are running, and taking it easy too. Javelina sounds like fun, especially the stopping part. 🙂

Kate, I think you are a very wise woman, and in the end, you husband will thank you for it – even if he gets fat 🙂
Yay! Yay! Yay! Woo hoo! You did it, Kent! I am so proud of you! I read that and broke into the spontaneous happy dance! Congratulations!
Thank you, Olga! We had a fun weekend!
I know, Kirstin! I’ve decided running is a heck of a lot more fun when you just eat, chat and stop! 🙂
I have no idea how I didn’t recognize you…or Debbie. Here’s to Butterfingers and having fun!

Did you run Javelina, Sarah? I’m heading over to your blog! Dang if we missed you!
