It is good to have an end to journey towards; but it is the journey that matters in the end. – Ursula K. LeGuin

I had a hard week.  I was tired – all week.  I finally said “Uncle” and took a couple of days off, read, did housework, twiddled my thumbs.  I wasn’t sick, but I was…worn out – physically, emotionally, spiritually.  As I posted last, life has been very different for me over the last few years, and while I feel like I’ve adjusted for the most part, every now and then I just have to sit down and breathe.  I know we grow the most during times of change, that stagnancy offers us nothing but misery, but sometimes it just gets to be too much.  I want to always be strong, capable – a doer, but lately, I haven’t felt like of any of those things.

So, today, rather than go out for my usual fast-ish long run, I decided to just hit the road and see where it took me.  My goal was to be on my feet for six hours, running and walking, letting my body dictate the pace.  I ended up journeying all over town, stopping for coffee at Starbuck’s, and then later, for an English muffin with cream cheese.  It was overcast, even sprinkling at times, giving the whole trek an otherworldy feel.  It was a wonderful morning.

I’m including some pictures of things I saw.  I seem to have some sort of obsession with churches (which is odd since I don’t attend), so I’ve included a few of those (really, I could make a five page post with just my pictures of churches – California has a lot of churches!).
