Another Year Gone By!

by Carilyn on June 5, 2011

I can’t believe we’ve been in California for a year!  Time has flown by – amazing.  We were very lucky to have lots of company, so we never really got too lonely.  That is one of the benefits of being in California  –  people want to come see you!

I finally got into a great running routine.  It was a little rough at first.  I couldn’t figure out how to get all my miles in with all the driving, coaching, and other responsibilities here.  I was used to my regular group in Texas, my regular routes, my regular life.  But now that I have made some running buddies, found some great trails and road routes, and put a treadmill in my kitchen, everything is much easier.

My racing has also been a little spotty.  Races I planned to do fell by the wayside, and races I hadn’t considered popped up as good training runs.  I will be going back to Texas for the summer, so probably no racing (maybe SF Marathon for fun), but I’m definitely planning to go to the North Coast 24 Hour in September.  I love those looped courses!

It seems like life is always changing, no matter how organized we try to be, so I’m just going with the flow.  This year, both in running and in life, has been a great adventure.  It was a completely unexpected change, and one that came with quite a bit of stress, but it has been a fantastic experience.  Sometimes the best you can do is say “Yes” to an opportunity, and then hold on for the ride!

Happy Running!
