We have now been in California for two months and time has passed so quickly. The boys are loving school, and I am adjusting to this new routine. I spend most of my time exploring my new surrounds, eating at funky restaurants, and figuring out where everything is in our new city. I try to do all of it on foot, thus getting in some miles, and some exploration. I also spend a big chunk of my time cooking. As you’ve probably guessed if you have been reading this blog for awhile, I love to cook. It is probably my second favorite thing after anything (well, almost anything) physical – running, swimming, walking, diving, snorkeling, biking. The only problem is that I don’t have enough people to cook for! The boys like to eat, but they are just 14, so they are not into eating HUGE meals yet. Without Tim here during the week, I don’t really have much of an appreciative audience 🙂 – the boys would probably be fine with hamburgers most nights!
I really want to try every recipe I read, so I keep cooking, and then eating (and serving) the leftovers for breakfast. It is has definitely lead to some interesting mornings for us! But, with Whole Foods only a block away, and so much fresh local produce to be found, I can’t help myself. How can you resist the temptation to roast up some fingerling potatoes culled staight from the local Weaver Farms? Or what about peach scones made from the local peaches? Really, I said I needed incentive to train, well, I’m finding it in food! I have to keep running!
So, tonight we are having pork chops with our fingerling potatoes – pork chops coddled in caramelize peaches (from our peach scone topping yesterday – I had to have something to do with them!), and some grilled endive. If I can ever get a decent camera I will try to attach some good pictures. For now, you are stuck with those coming from my phone. I’m sorry, but I’m spending all my money on ingredients and cooking utensils!
Happy Running!
P.S. I went and bought a new camera, but I have to figure out how to upload them. Pictures will follow.

Ha! I wish we could figure out how to do a trade out – I’m desperate for a massage!
