Okay, Seriously. It’s Time to Get Serious.

While everyone else is posting beautiful pictures of Easter eggs and bunnies, I am resisting posting pics of dead coyotes. I just feel like it may…dampen your holiday mojo.

Instead of spending Easter looking for eggs (okay, my kids are 16 so that wasn’t going to happen anyway), we spent our weekend driving back to LA. And for whatever reason, there were a ton (ton being like 3) dead coyotes on the side of the road. Ick.

The drive from El Paso to Los Angeles, no matter how you do it, is about 13 hours, with stops. When I have to drive it without Hubz, we break it into two days ‘cause there is no way I’m letting one of my teens drive 80 miles an hour down the highway without a Xanax (which I don’t have a prescription for. And I meant for me, not them.). This means I have to do all the driving – so we only make it about 8 hours before I have to stop to have a glass of wine rest my aching back.

I did manage a quick 6 miler before we left, and hope to fit in 20 miles when we get to LA. Worlds are only 6 weeks away and I’m starting to panic. Running around in circles for 24 hours makes me crazy enough without going into it underprepared. Since this is my fourth time on the Team, I want to make sure I am trained to the best of my ability – you never know how many more shots (if any) you are going to get.

Hopefully, this week, everything will return back to normal (or as normal as it can be) and I can post about stuff besides dead coyotes, prescription meds, and long commutes that make me write about both.

Happy Running!

Nothing worse than that feeling of time running out to train! Hope all goes as planned and you put those niggling worries to rest.

You will do it! I have complete faith you will arrive at World’s trained and ready to rumble. : )

Just as well you’ve gotten your requisite dose of what-ever’s-going-around in time to get some serious work done. Six weeks should be enough to see you fit without being overtrained (like, I’d know – I never run over 20k).

I kinda wished you had posted a pic of your dead coyotes – I’m all into road kill. And the best I’ve ever seen was a huge dead wombat a couple of years ago. We had to stop and take pics of him. There is no dignity or privacy in death if you choose to play chicken on a highway.

Thank you, Kirstin. I think it’s time for deep psychological counseling 🙂

Thank you, Marcia! I WANT to rumble 🙂

If there had been any way to stop, Char, we would have. I know how important photos (even of road kill) are for us bloggers. Next time 🙂
