Why You MUST Have Money For Retirement (Or, Why You Can’t Count On Your Kids To Take Care Of You)

by Carilyn on March 23, 2013

Conversation last night with Son 2 about our 12 hour drive to Texas today:

Me: Okay, I’m going to bed.

Son 2: Mom, it’s only 8:00. That’s early even for you. And it’s Friday night. That’s just weird.

Me:  I know, but I want to be on the road by 8 tomorrow, and I have to get up early to get my run in first.

Son 2:  8?! We’re leaving at 8? In the morning?

Me:  Yes.

Son 2:  But why? Why so early? It’s a Saturday.

Me:  Because it’s a 12 hour drive with a 1 hour time difference. That already means we won’t get there until 9.

Son 2:  Do we have to be somewhere?

Me:  No. But I don’t want to be driving all day and then be up late, too.

Son 2:  That is so weird. You’re going to bed now so we can leave early enough for you to get back to El Paso in time to go to bed.

Me:  Yep.

Son 2:  Wow, it’s like we already live in an old folks home. And I thought eating dinner at 5:30 was lame.

Me:  Okay, just for that we’re leaving at 7.

Happy Running!

Kids!!! When their adults, you still hear the same thing but at least you can leave if you don’t want to hear it, or tell them THEY can leave if they don’t like your lifestyle!

Every time I try to be serious, I fall asleep, PP. No worries 🙂

My kids are definitely ready to be on their own. Except when they need laundry done. Or want dinner. Or their lunch made. Or money 🙂
