I’ve run a lot since the New Year, trying to work out what the hell I wanted to do with my running. I even raced (unsuccessfully). Then I took my son to run (successfully) his first marathon. And next weekend, he will attempt his first 50 miler. So while I am still Sybil-ish in my own pursuits, I am happy to be able to share running with my child (who regularly reminds me he will only be a child for 3 more months. Gulp.).
And I’ve been doing some cooking. Okay, a lot of cooking. Okay, too much cooking. I’m cooking for myself, my family and then experimenting on recipes for a cooking column I’m writing for my sister. Her new book, The Glass Kitchen, comes out in June so I’ve been tweaking recipes from our childhood and writing a little story with them. It’s been a lot of nostalgic fun layered with extra calories.
And with all that cooking, I dare not stop running, even if I’m not racing.
So, I’m still faithfully hitting the (baby) trails and watching cooking shows while I’m on the treadmill. There’s a part of me that feels that my midlife crisis will be solved with enough miles and a great recipe for lemon pound cake. We’ll see.

So exciting that your son is following in your footsteps (pretty much literally!!).
And, very cool that your sister has a cookbook coming out – I’m a bit of a cookbook collector so I will probably feel the need to add it to my collection since in a round-about way I can say I sort of know her (since I know you and all!).

You’re oh so wrong! Nothing was ever solved with lemon cake. Big crises need the big guns. You need chocolate cake.

Glad to hear from you, was worried! Only one son though? 🙂
Thanks, Kim! I will keep you posted when it comes out. In the meantime, I think I will just subject y’all to food posts 🙂
I do love me some chocolate, Char, but lemon pound cake makes me weep openly.
Thanks for checking on me, Olga! And yes, only one son has caught the running bug.
