Christmas Report: What Did You Expect? No Costumes? As if.

by Carilyn on January 9, 2014

Well, what would a trip for me be if I didn’t leave my laptop somewhere? I know none of you are surprised. In fact, I’m betting that many of you suspected it when I hadn’t posted for awhile. Or maybe you just thought I’d gone on another non-running/cake eating/coffee drinking bender.

Alas, no. There was much running over the holidays, but not because I was super motivated. Rather, it was because of these people:

GroupThey wanted to run to the top of a mountain, and wouldn’t take “NO!” for an answer. And, on the very far left, in the black ski cap, is my precious son, who also wanted to run to the top of a mountain.

In other words, I had to.

So, I did. Or, we did.

And we were rewarded with this:

Christ

On Christmas Eve morning, nonetheless. Pretty much worth it, I would say.

And on New Year’s Eve morning, as retribution loving repayment, I coerced convinced many of those same people to run for 6 hours with me around a half mile loop. Ah, Christmas, the season of giving.

But just so you don’t think it was all run, no fun, rest assured that we take our entertainment seriously in my family. And sometimes costumes are involved.

ChristmasSuch as, Santa Beards.

elf

And Elf Caps.

spirit hoodsAnd Spirit Hoods.

And these aren’t even the people who received the Spirit Hoods as presents. Yes, there was a little pre-Christmas gift modeling. And mocking.

So, basically, this Christmas, while no different than many others – forgetting things, running a lot, dancing in random garb, and joyously laughing and eating with family and friends – was one of the most fun because it was…just like so many of the other wonderful Christmases.

Hope y’all had a fantastic holiday!

Happy Running!

Oh yay! The mountain run looks awesome….for you, not me….I’m a crewer not a doer. But the top looks amazing, and maybe the down part too….for a short while before the quads scream. Merry belated Christmas and Happy New Year my friend!

Sounds like some really great running for sure – what an awesome site at the top of the mountain!
I hope that you recovered your laptop and didn’t have to buy a new one!
Looks like lots of fun times by everyone!!!

You are such a kind, generous and loving friend to give your running buddies the gift of not having to worry about the Christmas Day calories by helping them run them off the day before. They are lucky to have you in their lives.

It was definitely fun, Kim! And luckily, I just left my laptop in Texas – solved with the help of FedEx 🙂

Char, I felt like a nice loop run was the perfect gift. Unfortunately, many of them would have preferred socks 🙂
