As I have mentioned over my last few posts, I’m using my running to get a better handle on my new environment.  I’m running all over the place, figuring out where everything is, especially the important things like good food!  One of my favorite ways to get my second run in is to have it end at a restaurant I’ve chosen ahead of time, or to just eat where the finish line is.  Both methods have yielded some delicious results.

Today, I was in a bit of a quandry.  I wanted to run around the city and try something new, but I had made a huge roast for dinner last night and I had been craving shredded beef soft tacos with avocado with the leftover beef.  I had actually dreamt about them!  I had planned to make them for dinner tonight, but decided I couldn’t wait.  But what about my lunch run?  What’s a girl to do?  Run for dessert, that’s what!

I’d heard about a place called “Pie ‘N Burger” – what could be more perfect than that?!  So, after a delicious lunch of shredded beef soft tacos, I headed out to find a piece of pie.  I had a general idea of where the restaurant was, but not exactly, so it made it fun to try to track it down.  In the end, it turned out that it was only a mile and a half away, but I loved just running until I found it – no GPS, no map.  Just a street address and my Mizunos.  I got a slice of cherry pie and chocolate meringue.  I then ran home with them in a white paper bag – quite the odd sight, but this is California, so no one looked twice.  Yum!

It was a great destination!  Maybe tomorrow I will try again.  There is a good soul food restaurant I’m dying to try!

Happy Running!
